Physician Assistant
Julio A. Hernandez, PA-C, ATC, is a graduate of the University of South Florida, in Tampa, FL, with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and a master’s degree in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He continued his education at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, earning a Master of Medical Science in physician assistant studies.
Prior to joining Orlando Orthopaedic Center, Mr. Hernandez worked as an athletic trainer in the professional baseball setting including stints with the Atlanta Braves and the Miami Marlins. He also served as a spring training intern athletic trainer for the Tampa Bay Rays. Julio is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed in the state of Florida to provide healthcare under the supervision of a licensed physician. He is also certified by the Board of Certification as a certified athletic trainer.
At Orlando Orthopaedic Center, Julio assists Travis B. Van Dyke, M.D., with the management of his medical practice. He performs in-office patient evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in addition to assisting Dr. Van Dyke in the operating room.
